Daily Calories Burned Calculator: Do you want to know how many calories you burned during common exercises like running, walking, swimming, or cycling? If yes, then stay tuned to this page. Just input the required details and hit the calculate button to get the number of calories burnt on a day.

The number of calories you burn in any given exercise depends on your age, anatomy, and fitness level. However, for so many people is accurate enough to allow them to make more educated decisions about how they workout and eat to complement that training.

How to Calcuate Calories Burned?

The number of calories burned by a person when performing in a certain activity is determined by a variety of factors. The majority of estimations (including those produced by our calculator) depend on three essential factors: body mass, activity time, and metabolic equivalent of a task (MET).

The metabolic equivalent of various tasks has been extensively researched, and our calculator estimates calories burned using data from previous studies.

On an average a person burns about 100 calories per mile, according to research. However, it differs from person to person in reality. Scientists employ a measure called MET or metabolic equivalent of task to assess the number of calories burned (MET). The amount of METs refers to how many times more calories you burn while you exercise versus when you are at rest.

This calculator is applicable for running, walking, swimming, cycling, biking and treadmill workouts.

The amount of oxygen consumed is measured in METs (metabolic equivalent of a task). MET can be defined in different ways. The original definition of this calculator follows based on oxygen consumption and body mass.

Exercise Calorie coefficients

Running, walking, swimming, cycling, biking, and treadmill workouts are all covered by this calculator.

Walking 0.653 kcal/(mi.lb)
Running 0.790 kcal/(mi.lb)
Cycling 0.28 kcal/(mi.lb)
Swimming 2.93 kcal/(mi.lb)

Multiply the distance travelled in miles and your body weight in kilograms by the calorie coefficient for that activity to get the number of calories burned. As it can be observed for the same distance covered for taller heavier people will burn more calories.

Example on Calories Burned Calculations

1. Calculate the calories burned by a person who weighs 80 kg and runs for 1 hour at a speed of 5 mph (a task with a MET value of 8.3).

Solution:

Given that,

Weight is 80kg

Speed is 5mph

1 hour = 60 minutes

Calories burns while running at 5 mph (per minute) = (8.3 x 80 x 3.5) / 200 = 11.62

Calories burned while running at 5 mph (for 60 minutes) = 11.62 x 60 = 697.2

Therefore, 697.2 of calories burned while running at 5mph.
